Primary Age
I offer personalised one-one tutoring and support for primary age children in Maths, Phonics, spelling and letter formation. I also teach recorder for beginners.
Our Process & Philosophy
Individualised support, going at their pace which improves confidence
Complement methods of learning used in schools
Help develop a deeper level of knowledge and understanding
Hands on approach to be engaging and fun
I offer personalised support for any primary age subjects, tailoring lessons to fit each child’s needs. I respect parents’ curriculum choices and integrate frequent movement breaks if needed to keep children engaged and focused. Together, we create a learning experience that works best for your child.
Phonics
I teach phonics to primary age children using Adrian Underhill’s logical system, which complements methods used in schools. This approach helps children develop a deeper understanding of the relationship between sounds and letters.
Maths
Learn with Mrs Bay teaches maths to primary age children using a hands-on approach to make learning fun and engaging. My lessons are broken down into small steps to ensure each concept is clearly understood. I provide individualised support to cater to each child’s unique learning needs.
Spelling
I teach spelling mostly to primary age children, focusing on each child’s individual needs. My personalised approach helps students master spelling in a way that suits their learning style. Together, we build strong spelling skills to boost confidence and success.
MELT
MELT (Myofascial Energetic Length Technique) is particularly benificial in supporting improvements in handwriting. The treatment on hands promotes more effective pressure using a pencil and better coordination. See our MELT page for more information.
Letter formation and handwriting
Learn with Mrs Bay can help improve handwriting in just a few weeks. Imagine what could achieved over an Easter or Summer break!
I will give guidance and support starting with large, well-formed letters and progressing to smaller sizes while teaching the correct pencil grip. If additional support is needed, I’ll refer you to the right specialist, as refining handwriting often benefits from a collaborative effort.
Learn how to play the recorder
I teach the recorder to beginners, offering one-to-one lessons or sessions for siblings. My personalised approach ensures each student learns the correct technique. As a player in two recorder orchestras, I provide a unique perspective on this often undervalued instrument, making learning both enjoyable and insightful.
Let’s Learn Together!
